Democrats Deliver Results for All New Mexicans
Free College Tuition and Fees
Thanks to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and the Democrats in the state legislature, college is now FREE for New Mexico residents! The new law covers tuition and fees for both two-year and four-year colleges. It also covers adult learners and part-time students. Democrats have ensured that college debt will now be a thing of the past for future generations.
Thanks to our Democrats on the County Commission, Doña Ana County received a $9.3 million Emergency Rental Assistance grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury to assist local residents who have been impacted by COVID-19. This money is available for all county residents, including those within the municipalities of Las Cruces, Sunland Park, Anthony, Hatch, and the Town of Mesilla. Heat and Utilities
President Biden has made available an additional $4.5 billion to help Americans keep their lights on and stay cool through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. For assistance, please contact the New Mexico program manager at 1-800-283-4465.
Financial Relief to Families
President Biden and the Democrats passed the Child Tax Credit, which provides New Mexicans with $3,600 per child under the age of 6 and $3,000 per child ages 7 to 17. To make sure you receive all your tax credit, visit https://www.childtaxcredit.gov.
Protection from Medical Debt
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Democrats signed into law the Patients’ Debt Collection Protection Act, which prohibits medical providers and creditors from suing low-income patients, and protects them from being harassed by collection agencies.
Roads and Bridges
President Biden and the Democrats passed the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which is bringing New Mexico $2.5 billion to fix our roads and bridges.
Fast and Reliable Internet
The Democrats’ infrastructure bill is also providing our state with $100 million to bring fast and reliable internet to all New Mexicans.
Flood Recovery Assistance
Thanks to our Democrats on the County Commission, Doña Ana County received $500,000 from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan to assist residents affected by flooding.
Small Business Assistance
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and New Mexico Democrats established the $200 million Business Recovery Grant Program, which helps small businesses impacted by the pandemic.
Expanded Public Transportation
The Democrats’ American Rescue Plan is providing $6.4 million to the Las Cruces Roadrunner Transit system to expand services for our community and fund much-needed raises for our bus drivers.
