District Attorney Mark D’Antonio’s Office Wins Youth Award

On Sunday, September 29, 2013, the District Attorney Mark D’Antonio’s Office was awarded the The Whole Enchilada Fiesta Youth Award for their participation in the parade. The award was given for “Excellence in Spirit & Youth Participation” in the planning and presentation of their float.

The float included Flight Honor Vets Chick Wenzel, Gil Choquette, and Cat Rede from Silver City, with a special thank you to David and Debra Melcher who have been involved with Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico since 2008. A special thank you to Amy Ortiz for lining up our Boy Scout and Girl Scouts. Great appreciation extended to Diamantes Del Valle-Leonor Rubalcava for the Ballet Folklorico youth. The Las Cruces High School Dance Team performed the first ever flash mob appearance in The Whole Enchilada Parade in conjunction with the float. Kevin Gall with Dona Ana Community College, Building and Construction Technology deserves the credit for construction and design. Many thanks to DASO and Patrolman Michael Avilucea MTD, DPS for both the use of and dressing as Mc Gruff the Crime Dog.

District Attorney Mark D’Antonio stated that “It was an honor to be a part of such an amazing community event, and to have the opportunity to highlight such amazing youth and the Flight Honor Vets which truly embodied this year’s Whole Enchilada theme of “A Celebration of Country, Community, and Culture.” I would like to personally thank each and every member of my staff and the community which helped make our participation possible and my appreciation to the Citizens of this great city who showed their support by attending.”
