It Must Be Summer! Congressman Steve Pearce is on Vacation Again

Once again southern New Mexico’s Congressman, Steve Pearce (R-CD2) is on vacation. After working a mere three days this month, Steve Pearce and his fellow Republicans in the House of Representatives have begun yet another five week vacation. Instead of working to bring jobs to his constituents or working to extend the tax cuts for the middle class that are set to expire at the end of the year, Steve Pearce and the Republicans took a vacation.

That’s some nice work if you can get it! For only three days work this month Congressman Pearce will earn $14,500.00, plus benefits, part of his annual salary of $174,000.00 per year.  Little wonder that Pearce and his Republican colleagues in the U.S. Congress earn a public approval rating of less than 10%. In fact, they were called the “Worst Congress ever” by the Washington Post.

While Steve Pearce and his fellow Republicans enjoy their high-paid vacations this summer, hard-working people in New Mexico and our fellow Americans wait for action on jobs and the economy, middle class tax cuts, a stalled agriculture bill, action on education, immigration reform, and the environment, and appropriations for public safety.

With Steve Pearce and his fellow Republicans heading off to their five week summer vacation, the job of America’s Congress, once again, isn’t getting done.

Let’s remember that this coming November 6, and vote this do-nothing Congress out of office, and put Steve Pearce back where he belongs. Out on the unemployment line!
