2012 Democratic National Convention

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have accepted their nominations at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2012 Convention, as it concluded, was the most open and accessible national convention in American history, and its most diverse. The Doña Ana County Democratic Party wishes to express our pride that County Vice Chair Bill Gomez of La Mesa and Priscilla Chavez of Las Cruces so ably represented our County and southwestern New Mexico as part of our state’s Delegation.

The Democratic National Convention, which meets every four years, bringing together America’s oldest political party,  isn’t about political ritual or simply nominating a president, it’s about Americans coming together. Success depends on involvement at the grassroots, engaging the American spirit and enlisting people who want to put their shoulder to the wheel and change the country for the better, a local community involvement and engagement that continues every day of every year.

From format to funding, this year’s convention, as all of our conventions, was organized to increase the influence of the grassroots and empower more Americans to become involved in the political process.
